Cutting Costs & Coupons

    On The Coupon Watch

Once you decide to start clipping coupons, you quickly realize that you can find them all over the place.  Stores, publications and the mail are all crawling with paper bargains.  A lot of manufacturers even put discounts and rebates on or in their packaging.  Just start looking, because it pays to pay attention.

Grocery stores have moved beyond weekly circulars available at the front door.  Now they are also infused with coupon dispensers, tear pads and displays located near specific products.  The items themselves, have tags and sticky notes attached to their packaging.  Magazines are frequently filled with coupons and rebates.  Their expiration dates tend to extend further and the more specialized the publication is, the more valuable its offers will be its readers.  Newspapers usually dedicate two days a week to grocery store and chain specials.  Sundays are traditionally good sources for national retailers and a mid-week day (usually Wednesday or Thursday) is a preferred time for local advertisers.  Finally, any time you find a publication that is filled with offers of interest to you, consider buying an extra copy or two.  The savings you enjoy will far outweigh the added cost.
