Words of Praise For . . . Libraries!

When you think of libraries, do you think of plenty of old decaying books residing in old decaying buildings?  Then you’ve completely missed the power of one of society’s greatest resources – especially when times are tight.

Today’s libraries often house resources that go beyond the printed book.  Get in the habit of checking out audio books and DVDs to maintain a high level of diverse family entertainment for little or no cost.  Some organizations provide access to computers at their facilities and many all are great, quiet, wireless locations, if you’re looking for a place for productive online time.  (This can be especially helpful if you’re job hunting or researching housing markets.)  Libraries also have a far wider collection of magazines and newspapers than you could ever dream of.  And as one more bonus – most libraries also have vibrant websites that include digital catalogs of their collections (so you can save time before visiting), as well as useful podcasts, blogs and search engines.  It really is a good time, for you to “check out” your local library!
