Saving Energy Saves Money Year Round
Don’t fall into the trap of thinking of energy saving as being a cold weather issue, because that’s far from the case. In fact, some of the same techniques for winter savings have value as the temperatures rise, as well. Here’s proof –
Seal leaks to the outdoors – Instead of warm air escaping needlessly from your home in winter, now picture leaving a door open while the air conditioner runs. Tightening up cracks and openings around windows and doors makes sense all the time.
Manage air temps – Whether manually or (more effectively) with a programmable thermostat, it’s advisable to be frugal with indoor air. Avoid running the AC when no one is in the home and try placing your cool setting a few degrees warmer than you’re used to.
Save water – With more outdoor activities and kids out of school, there’s an increase in washing people and clothing. So consider installing low flow showerheads, toilets and faucets and fix any leaks you discover.
Saving energy is good for the environment and translates to monetary green savings as well … throughout the year.
