Saving What You've Got

Change Energy Behavior, Keep More Change In Your Pocket

There's never a bad time to think about ways to reduce your household energy consumption and related costs. Partiuclarly in this economic climate, Your Money Page encourages you to consider doing a "walking around tour" of your home.  Look for ways to save energy and bring down your bills as a result.  A little behavior modification can make a big difference.

This can involve lowering your thermostat by a degree or two at times when you are sleeping or out of the house.  Replacing air and water filters regularly.  Planning to open curtains during daylight hours to allow for solar heating.  Deciding to run washers, driers and dishwashers only when they are full.  Reducing hot water usage in baths and showers.  Checking on potential heat loss through chimneys, windows and doors.  Sealing off rooms that aren’t frequently used.   You’ll likely be surprised by how the little things you do begin to lead to noticeable energy savings.
