Saving What You've Got

Uncle Sam Wants You … (To Have Lower Gasoline Bills)

As taxpayers we often forget about great websites run by the government.  One that has useful information about reducing gas consumption and buying more economically sound vehicles is FuelEconomy.gov.  It includes topics such as –

    • Fuel conservation driving tips
    • New car economy/MPG ratings
    • Information on hybrids, diesels & alternative fuel vehicles
    • Side-by-side car comparisons
    • Vehicle MPG estimates for virtually every model since 1985
    • Links to sites with cheap gas information from across the nation

When it’s time to buy a new car, FuelEconomy.gov can prove especially helpful.  The site has tools with allow you to compare 2 or 3 cars side-by-side in a variety of areas.  You can also enter general requirements and wind up with a list of cars that meet your criteria.  Finally, by using the MPG archive section, you can get a better sense for the fuel economy of pre-owned vehicles you might be considering.
